Health Testing
A gimmick or necessary ?
If you ask a breeder about Health Testing and they reply " Oh don't worry my Vet checked them out" that is not Health Testing.
Breeding persians and himalayans need to be screened for PKD, an inherited kidney condition that affects 30% to 40% of all persians and himalayans. It can result in death at a young age from kidney failure.
When I first started breeding we had to screen our persians and himalayans by ultrasound. Unfortunately ultrasound was estimated to be only about 80% accurate.
We now have a DNA test for PKD. All my breeding persians are tested Negative for PKD by DNA, with the supporting documentation.
Just ask any breeder that you go to, that they show you their Negative PKD by DNA testing results for both parents of your kitten.
All my persians are Negative for FELV & FIV.
All my kittens come with a 10 year written health warrenty.
